Iowa has the second highest rate of new cancers in the U.S according to the Iowa Cancer Registry. Warren County had one of the lowest cancer rates per population in the state, with an estimated 2,535 living with cancer in the county, and 85 deaths from cancer in 2024. The report states there is no one cause for cancer; rather it is the complex interplay of different genetic, behavioral, environmental, and structural factors that alter the way cells function and produce cancer. The report also shows a strong correlation between heavy drinking of alcohol and cancer. Find the full report below.
