The Central College men’s and women’s track and field squads had 13 members recognized as All-Midwest Region performers for the outdoor season by the USTFCCCA on Friday.

To be named All-Region, an athlete must either be ranked in the top five of an individual event in the region or be part of a top-three relay team.

Sophomore Gavin Smith was recognized in both the decathlon and javelin throw while senior Noah Jorgenson doubled in the 800 meters and 1500 meters. Jack Brown and Caleb Silver were both honored in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Reid Pakkebier gave Central a second all-region decathlete. Kale Purcell in the triple jump, Kaleb Brand in the 400-meter dash and Gunner Meyer in the 110-meter hurdles rounded out the honorees for the Dutch men.

Caroline McMartin, Megan Johnson, and Addison Parrott all earned all-region honors in the women’s 3,000-meter steeplechase. McMartin was also recognized in the 5,000 meters and Johnson also doubled in the 10,000 meters. Abbi Roerdink was honored in the 400-meter dash while Olivia Bohlen earned the nod in the heptathlon.

Central’s national qualifiers will compete at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina this weekend.
