Habitat for Humanity of Marion County has announced dates that they will hold dedications for their three new homes.
The first new home dedication will be held at 713 N Roche St. in Knoxville on Wednesday, May 29th at 10 am. On Thursday, May 30th, Habitat for Humanity will hold their next new home celebration at 105 E DeWitt St. in Pleasantville at 10:30 am. The final new home dedication will take place at 401 Edwards St. in Bussey on Friday, May 31st at 10 am. Habitat for Humanity of Marion County Executive Director Amy Meyer says that they are excited to be able to provide more affordable housing locally, and adds that they have appreciated partnerships with area high schools for these projects.
“It’s just been some amazing partnerships. So for example, Knoxville High School works on the Knoxville home, their construction trades program that is. So, there’s students working on that house. Twin Cedars, we have a new partnership with them, they have students working on the Bussey home. And the coolest part is, that Bussey home is actually going to be purchased by a Twin Cedars teacher, so there’s actually students building a house for their teacher. So, that’s going to be a really cool home celebration.”
Meyer adds that they hope to begin working on three new houses in July.
