The Norwalk doubles team of Adrian Bush and Braylon Stockwell finished the season by losing a pair of matches at the Class 2A Boys State Tennis Tournament on Tuesday. Bush, a senior, and Stockwell, a junior, competed at the Hawkeye Tennis and Rec Center in Iowa City.

Bush and Stockwell were defeated by the third-seeded team from Linn-Mar 1-6, 0-6 in the first round. They also lost 1-6, 0-6 in the consolation bracket against a team from Pleasant Valley. Bush and Stockwell finished the season with a doubles record of 10-6.

Soccer Tournament Doubleheader

Warrior Stadium in Norwalk will be the site of a postseason soccer doubleheader tonight as the Norwalk squads host opponents from the Raccoon River Conference.

At 5:00 p.m., the 2nd-ranked Warrior girls take on Winterset in a Class 2A, Region 3 semifinal. The game was postponed a day by Tuesday’s severe weather. Norwalk has won eight straight games – all by shutout – to improve to 13-4 overall. The Warriors will be playing their first match since May 10. Winterset defeated Creston 4-0 in last week’s first round to improve to 8-7. With a victory, Norwalk will host Lewis Central in tomorrow’s regional final at 7:00 p.m.

A state tournament berth will be on the line tonight when the sixth-ranked Norwalk boys host Carlisle in a Class 3A, Substate 6 final at 7:00 p.m. The Warriors improved to 10-8 with Monday’s 7-0 rout of Waverly-Shell Rock. The 10-6 Wildcats advanced with a 5-4 double-overtime victory against defending 3A champion Iowa City Liberty.
