The Indianola boys soccer team is heading to the class 3A state tournament after a 2-1 overtime win over Sioux City West in the substate final.

The Indians fell behind 1-0 after West put a ball in the back of the net in the second half with 26 minute remaining, and the Indians would only tie the game on the heroics from Anson Miller who shot a prayer from 30 yards out and found the back of the net with 1:36 left in the contest to force overtime, the in the overtime period Allan Martinez scored a goal on a free kick from 25 yards out to win it. The Indians will have a rematch with Des Moines Hoover in the quarterfinal round next Wednesday.

The Indianola girls soccer team fell to Southeast Polk 6-0 in the regional semifinal round. Indianola ends their season with a record of 7-11 and graduate six seniors.

The #14 Indianola softball team dominated Des Moines East 13-0 in non-conference action Wednesday. The Indians scored five runs in the second inning, another three in the fourth, then another five in the fifth inning to win it. Sam Gripp got the win in the circle to improve to 2-0, and hit two home runs at the plate to lead the offense. Makenzie Sloan had three hits, while Dana Blake had two. The Indians are now 2-0 on the season, and will play at Southeast Polk in their annual Strike Out Cancer game tomorrow.
