A Knoxville Fire Department open house was held on Wednesday night.

The community came out to this event to celebrate the 50th anniversary of EMS week. The event consisted of food and a large variety of EMS vehicles on display including a Mercy One helicopter. Knoxville Fire Chief Cal Wyman said this event is a great way to show the community the vehicles and what they do on a day to day basis. Wyman says it’s great to see the community come out and support EMS.

“We’ve got huge crowds. A lot of people have been through. EMS is important, and this is something the county is going to have to make a decision on how important it is. Getting the community support like we do right now is huge.”

The theme for this year’s EMS week is “Honoring our Past. Forging our Future”.
