Local unemployment rates decreased for the third consecutive month in April, according to the latest data from Iowa Workforce Development.

The unemployment rate in Marion County dropped to 1.7% last month, which is down from 2.3% in March and 2.5% in February. There are 18,750 residents employed and 320 seeking work and receiving benefits. The rate also decreased in Warren County to 1.9% in April, which is down from 2.7% in March and 3.0% in February. There are 28,700 employed residents and 600 individuals seeking work and receiving benefits.

Statewide, Iowa’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate saw a slight decline to 2.8% in April, which is down from 2.9% in March but matches the rate that was set in April 2023.
