Pella Baseball Blasts Boone
The Dutch baseball team made short work of Boone 11-1, in the opening summer broadcast heard live on 92.1 KRLS Wednesday evening. Head Coach Jesse Jablonski called the five-inning contest another complete effort for the team this week. Teagan Hoekstra drove in three runs at the plate and earned the win on the mound, striking out nine in five innings, and Isaiah Kettler continued his hot start, tacking on a two-run double. Pella improves to 4-1 overall and is off until traveling to ADM on Friday.
Girls Soccer Advances to the Regional Final
A storm-moved contest saw the #5 Pella girls soccer team return to the pitch on Wednesday to knock off Newton by a 4-0 margin. Abby Warner nabbed another hat trick scoring, and Claire Smock scored the other goal. The victory advances the Dutch to the regional finals, where they will attempt to qualify for their 15th-ever state tournament trip and in back-to-back seasons. Pella will host #10 ADM at 7:00 this evening, who knocked off Bondurant-Farrar 4-2 to move to the final 16 teams. This is a rematch of the Class 2A quarterfinals, which the Dutch won in a 1-0 match last May.
