At Tuesday’s Pella City Council meeting, Mayor Don DeWaard confirmed the City of Pella is receiving federal funding for a road extension on the east side of town. DeWaard says he met with Representative Mariannette Miller-Meeks during a recent visit to town, and a request for $1 million to extend University Street from 240th to 250th Avenue made it in the federal funding package passed earlier this spring. The project is under the list of Community Project Funding for Miller-Meeks in the current fiscal year. This also included $2 million for the Warren County Highway G76 HMA Resurfacing Project and $1.08 million for the City of Oskaloosa Wastewater Improvement Project in the area. Earlier this year, during a Pella City Council meeting, administration believed an extension of University Street from Baseline Drive to 250th would cost $5.46 million, which would be the first phase of that proposal.
