Within Indianola city limits, Indianola Municipal Utilities is working to restore power to all customers, having to work around multiple large trees that took down power lines as they fell.
Residents should be cautious to eat any food that requires refrigeration after an extended power outage. A refrigerator will keep food cold for approximately four hours, and a full freezer will keep temperature for approximately 48 hours, and to supplement with coolers and ice if available.
After power is restored, throw away any food that has been exposed to temperatures 40 degrees or higher for two hours or more, or that has an unusual odor, color or texture. If the power is out for more than a day, discard any medication that should be refrigerated, unless the drug’s label says otherwise, and consult your doctor or pharmacist immediately for a new supply.
