A rainy spring in South Central Iowa continues to bring drought relief locally in the latest weekly update.
According to the U.S. Drought Monitor Report, nearly all of Warren and Marion Counties were under severe drought conditions, the third highest rating on the national scale. In the latest report released Thursday, just over 88% of Warren County faces abnormally dry conditions, the second lowest rating possible on the national scale. In Marion County, moderate drought remains just over 15% of the population in the northwestern portion of the county, while abnormally dry conditions exist in the remaining portion of the area.
According to the National Weather Service, chances for rain remain in the forecast into Memorial Day, before dry conditions return in the middle of next week.
