Pella Corporation held their National Poppy Day, Memorial Day flag raising event on Friday.
The ceremony, which was organized by The Veterans Network Business Resource Group, was held indoors due to the storms that impacted Pella Friday morning. Co-chair of the Veterans Network Stephen Sawatzky opened the program by introducing local boy scouts to present the flags and lead the Pledge of Allegiance. The ceremony then featured the playing of Taps, before current co-sponsor of the Veteran’s Network Jason Jiskoot delivered a brief message. Jiskoot, who also served in the Iowa National Guard, says he appreciates Pella Corporation’s support of local veterans.
“It’s really important to me to work for a company that supports veterans. I think veterans are an important part of, not only our company, but our community and our country. They keep us safe. They protect our nation and they protect many of the freedoms we enjoy on a daily basis.”
