The Melcher-Dallas Baseball Squad is young, inexperienced and according to Coach Pat Ferguson, will take their lumps this season. The Saints opened last week with a 10-0 loss to Murray in their season opener. But he says regardless of the score, he wants his team to compete, especially in the Bluegrass Conference.

Ferguson: “I think if they stick with it and stay competitive, and continue to learn, don’t take any steps back, and keep moving forward.”

There are just two seniors on the roster as Mason DeJong and Trevor Hoch are the leaders on the team. Ferguson adds his team needs to stay confident in their ability regardless of the score. The Saints are off until Thursday when they host Ankeny Christian.
