The Twin Cedars Softball Squad still has an aggressive non-conference schedule this summer. The Sabers have already played Wayne, and class 1A top ranked Martensdale-St. Mary’s. They were competitive with those teams, but a win over a non-conference opponent would get far in raising the Sabers’ profile for the postseason. Coach Zack Dunkin tells KNIA/KRLS Sports the Bluegrass Conference games do not always give his team the strength of schedule it needs.
Dunkin: “That’s kind of where we have to fill in the schedule. We added Pleasantville and Lynnville-Sully in a triangular so I’m excited about that. When you beat those non-conference teams you have a better chance of being ranked higher in postseason.”
Other non-conference opponents include Cardinal, Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont…class 2A top ranked Van Meter, and Southeast Warren. The Sabers play Moulton-Udell tonight.
