Three Central College players were named to the Academic All-District softball teams, selected by College Sports Communicators.

Pitcher Sydni Huisman, shortstop Carson Fisk and designated player Hannah Higgins were honored with the Academic All-District distinction. To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must play in 90% of a team’s contests at the varsity level or start in 66% of the games while achieving a 3.50 or better cumulative grade point average.

Higgins was also among those players advancing to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. Academic All-American honorees will be announced on June 18th. Higgins is a kinesiology major with a 3.76 GPA, was named a first-team American Rivers all-conference pick and a second-team NFCA Division III all-region selection. She was Central’s top hitter with a .371 average along with a .451 on-base percentage and 35 RBIs.

Huisman was cited for the third time and graduated with a 3.78 GPA, while majoring in actuarial science and computer science. Huisman posted an 8-5 record in the circle for the Dutch this season. Fisk was chosen for the second year in a row. She carries a 3.67 GPA and an elementary education major. Fisk batted .245, stole 12 bases and had a .929 fielding percentage.

Central posted a 33-13 record, winning the American Rivers Conference title and making a record 32nd NCAA Division III Championships appearance, winning the Pella, Iowa Regional.
