The Indianola softball team swept Pella Christian Wednesday evening to begin Little Hawkeye Conference play, winning 12-0 in three innings in game one and 14-2 in five innings in game two heard live on 94.3 KNIA.

The Indians jumped all over the Eagles in the first game leading to ending the game after three innings, with Ava Tichy getting the win in the circle.

Game two saw an aggressive Eagles offense take advantage of Indianola miscues to lead 2-0 after the first off of an RBI hit by Claire Braafhart. It would be all Indianola after that, with the Indians responding in the second with a bases-clearing three-RBI double by Dana Blake to lead 4-2, then scored another two in the third, got home runs from Makenzie Sloan and Haley New in the fourth, and another two-RBI double from Blake in the fourth and fifth innings to end it. Ashley Schultz got the win in the circle.

Eagles head coach Mindi Kacmarynski said after the game she is measuring the team by their improvements throughout each game, and there was significant growth from her squad even from game one to game two. Rachel Kacmarynski went 1-1 at the blate, while Addie Van Arendonk went 1-2.

Indians head coach Stacy Evans said she was happy with the opportunity to get a lot of athletes some playing time over the course of the two contests, and there are still battles going on for positions. Blake went 2-3 at the plate driving in five runs, while New went 2-3 with a homerun and three runs scored.

The Eagles fall to 1-4 overall and 0-2 in conference play, while Indianola is 5-1 and 2-0. Pella Christian travels to DCG on Friday, while Indianola hosts Pella.
