team-9

The Knoxville Boys and Girls of Summer came up short in non-conference action on Wednesday with the baseball squad falling to Ballard 6-3 and the softball squad dropping two to Washington by scores of 12-6 and 2-1 on 95.3 KNIA. For the softball Panthers, game one both teams started off by posting crooked numbers on the scoreboard, but it was the Demons who broke open a tight game with three runs in the 4th and six in 6th inning to go from down one to up eight. The Panthers made three errors that led to some of those runs and started a mini comeback in the 7th to close the gap to 12-6. Charlye Willis took the loss going five innings and striking out four. She also had three hits for Knoxville in game one. Game two was a pitcher’s duel as Ciara Heffron kept the Panthers in the game by scattering six hits and striking out 11 batters. But Knoxville was unable to get runners home as the Panthers had bases loaded with one out in the 7th, but could not get the tying or winning run home. Coach Chris Peden told KNIA/KRLS Sports while disappointed in the missed opportunities he used it as a teaching point after the game.

Peden: “The nice part is those opportunities were a learning points, and the conversation was quick but we still got something out of them.”

Willis and Anna Anderson had two hits each to lead Knoxville offensively. The Panthers are now 1-2 on the season.

The Knoxville Baseball Squad fell to Ballard but the game was close in the 5th, as Knoxville held a 1-0 lead errors and other mistakes cost Knoxville the win. Roston McCarty took the loss. The Panthers were limited to just three hits, while Lincoln Norris, Luke Roozeboom and Colton Wight all had one RBI each. Both Knoxville squads are on the field tonight in Eddyville as the baseball contest will be live on 95.3 KNIA at around 7:30.
