Following a championship effort by the girls tennis team, both the boys tennis team and girls soccer team are keeping spring alive for at least one more day as they compete.
The Pella girls soccer team is back at the Cownie Soccer Complex in Des Moines for the state semifinals, as they take on #1 North Polk. The Comets defeated the Dutch 3-1 on May 13th to end the regular season, and have yet to lose to a Class 2A school. Coverage begins at noon today on 92.1 KRLS.
Meanwhile, the Pella boys tennis team — runner-up each of the past four seasons, are chasing an elusive state team title run of their own. Led by 1A singles state champion Jack Briggs, the Dutch will begin as the No. 3 seed in the state quarterfinals this morning against Boone. If they are victorious, Pella would then face either Xavier or Decorah in the semifinals. A win also guarantees an appearance Friday in either the first place or third place match. Matches begin at 9 a.m. at the University of Iowa.
