A steady offensive attack propelled the Indianola baseball team to a 9-1 and 16-0 doubleheader sweep over Pella Christian Wednesday night, with the second game heard live on 92.1 KRLS.

In the opener, the Indians got the scoring started with two runs in the top of the first inning and another run in the third to take a 3-0 lead. The Eagles got a run back in the bottom of the fourth inning, but Indianola scored another three runs in each of the sixth and seventh innings to secure the 9-1 victory. The Indians held that momentum into the nightcap, scoring nine runs in the top of the first, while sending 13 batters to the plate. Indianola kept the pressure on, scoring twice in the third, before adding five runs in the fourth and ending the game early via the run rule. 

A trio of Indians recorded five hits over the two games in Luke Rockhold, Jack Strong, and Andrew DeWall. Rockhold went 5-for-6 on the night with seven runs scored. Strong was 5-for-8 with a triple, three runs scored, and three RBIs. DeWall posted a 5-for-9 night with a three-run homer, six RBIs, and two runs scored. DeWall also earned the game two victory on the mound, pitching all four innings and striking out three. Luke Byers was the game one winner for Indianola, throwing 6.2 innings of one-run baseball. For Pella Christian, Luke Fynaardt and Eliot Menninga were the lone hitters to record hits in both games, with Fynaardt posting three hits on the night. Conor Van Zee suffered the complete game loss for the Eagles in game one, while Grant Kelderman took the loss in the nightcap.

Indianola improved to 7-2 overall and 2-0 in the Little Hawkeye Conference, while Pella Christian fell to 5-5 overall and 0-2 in the league. The Indians are back in action tonight for a doubleheader at Urbandale beginning at 5 pm, while the Eagles are off until Friday when they travel to Dallas Center-Grimes.
