In night two of the Little Hawkeye Conference summer season, it was advantage Indianola as they took advantage of Pella miscues in a 7-4 softball victory heard live on 92.1 KRLS Friday.
While the Dutch nabbed two early runs from miscommunication in the home team outfield, it was all Indianola from there, scoring multiple runs in the 1st, 2nd, and 4th innings, eventually building a 7-2 lead.
Pella would muster some response with their top of the order in the 7th inning, only for a Dana Blake-induced double play from center field to 1st to stunt a potential comeback rally. Blake was also 2-for-3 at the plate with three steals and a double, while Katie Scheckel led the way for the Dutch with a 3-for-3 showing.
Indianola, ranked 14th in Class 4A, is up to 6-1 overall and 3-0 in the Little Hawkeye; they take on ranked Waukee, Johnston, and Winterset at a Des Moines showcase tournament today. Pella falls to 3-2 and 2-1 in the league, and takes on North Polk and Cardinal at the Oskaloosa tournament.
