The Pella baseball team hit six extra base hits Friday evening to defeat Indianola 7-5 in Little Hawkeye Conference play as heard live on 94.3 KNIA.

The Indians took an early 1-0 lead off the bat of George Blake who hit an RBI double in the first inning, but that would be the only offense for awhile for Indianola.

Pella scored three unanswered with an RBI double by Anderson Schirm and an RBI triple by Isaiah Kettler that put Pella up 3-1 after the third. Indianola got a two-RBI infield hit by Gabe Dalby to tie the score at three in the fourth, but Pella answered with three extra-base hits in the fifth to lead 6-3 and added insurance on another RBI double by Teagan Hoekstra in sixth. A two-RBI double by Andrew DeWall in the seventh put the tying run at home plate with two outs for the Indians, but Pella held on for the win.

Dutch head coach Jesse Jablonski said after the game his defense and pitching is making all the right plays right now and that is allowing them to be in every single ballgame and coming out on the winning end.

Hoekstra pitched a complete-game to earn the victory also going 2-4 at the plate driving in two runs. Pella is now 7-2 overall and 3-0 in conference play, and travels to Dallas Center-Grimes on Monday.

Indians head coach Nathan Carlin said the Indians can’t be complacent like they were in the middle innings tonight, as it set the Indians too far behind to complete the comeback.

Andrew DeWall went 2-4 at the plate driving in two, while Dalby went 1-2 with two runs batted in. Indianola is now 7-5 and 2-1, and will host Warren County rival Norwalk on Monday.
