A former Twin Cedars standout athlete will be inducted into the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union Softball Hall of Fame later this summer. Brittany (Roby) Swartz starred in every sport she participated in, softball was where she will be recognized. Roby played for five high school seasons starting as an 8th grader for the Sabers. She had 294 career hits for the Sabers with her best season of 78 during her sophomore season. She helped lead the Sabers to a 102-50 record during her five seasons. After her career at Twin Cedars ended she continued her softball playing days at DMACC where to this day she holds several career and single game records. After her two seasons at DMACC she moved on to the University of Northern Iowa where she led the team in hits in both 2017 and 2018. Currently she is a teacher and a middle school volleyball coach in the Van Meter School District where she lives with her husband and family. Brittany will be inducted during a ceremony on championship night at the State Softball Tournament in July. Stay tuned for an interview on Today’s Lely Radio Sports Page.
