The Pella Public Library will host Sailing Around the Americas, a 28,000-Mile Small Boat Journey on Wednesday at 6:30 pm.
The presentation by David Thoreson, will kick off the second year of the library’s Outdoor Adventure Series. Thoreson, a conservationist, photographer, author, and sailor from Lake Okoboji, was selected as the documentary photographer and filmmaker on a 13-month, 28,000-mile sailing voyage around the North and South American continents in 2009-2010. Carol Weihe with the Pella Public Library says that Thoreson will be sharing some of the over 75,000 images he took from the adventure during the presentation.
“He was the photographer chosen to go on this trip back in 2009-2010 and he took thousands and thousands of pictures, kind of showing what the state of the environment is. He took lots of beautiful pictures, and subsequently, I think, he has gone on other trips, and kind of shows how things change along the way. So, I think we’re in for a lot of beauty in this presentation.”
The program is free and open to the public. For questions about this or other upcoming events, contact the library at 641-628-4268. Hear more about the Outdoor Adventure Series on today’s Let’s Talk Pella.
