Sophomore outfielder Ashlyn Steen was named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-American Third Team on Wednesday evening.

Steen picks up the 16th All-American honor in program history and first in 16 seasons. She was named first team all-conference and all-region earlier this month.

Steen put together a spectacular sophomore season at the plate, batting .444 to lead the American Rivers Conference as well as all Simpson hitters from the last 12 seasons. She compiled 60 hits, including 12 doubles, six triples and two home runs, drove in 27 runs and scored 41 times. Defensively, Steen went without an error in 49 total chances from centerfield and contributed to one of Simpson’s 22 double plays.

Steen joined Simpson’s 100 career hits club and continued to propel herself up the career stolen bases leaderboard, now ranking third all-time with 59. She was four stolen bases away from tying the program’s single season record of 36 set in 1997. Additionally, she came within three hits, five triples, five runs and six doubles of single-season records.

Simpson ended the season with a 27-13 overall record, going 9-7 against A-R-C opponents to earn the No. 5 seed in the league’s tournament. The Storm boasted an 18-game win streak during the season and advanced to the conference semifinals for the first time since 2019.
