Sophomore third baseman/pitcher Brayden Sawyer of the Central College baseball team was named to the College Sports Communicators Division III Academic All-District team Tuesday afternoon.

To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must be a starter or key reserve at the varsity level and achieve a 3.50 or better cumulative grade point average. Position players must compete in at least 90% of games played or start in 66% of games played. Pitchers must pitch at least 25 innings or appear in 17 games.

Sawyer is a business management major with a 3.72 GPA. Sawyer was in the lineup 36 times in 2024, hitting .267 with 11 RBIs and a pair of home runs. He made five appearances on the mound as a starter, recording a 2-3 record with a 5.81 ERA.

Sawyer gives Central’s baseball program an Academic All-District selection in consecutive years after pitcher Sam Staley was honored in 2023. The Dutch baseball team has had 11 selections in the history of the award.
