The Indianola baseball team defeated West Des Moines Valley in a non-conference matchup Tuesday evening 3-1. The scheduled doubleheader was cut short to one game due to rain.
Bryant Ritchie was dominant on the mound as he hurled five innings giving up only one run, as Indianola took a 2-1 lead, with Luke Byers pitching a scoreless inning in relief and Kaden Ritching pitching the seventh to earn the save. The Indians scored two runs to take a lead in the second inning, then Valley cut the lead to one with a run in the bottom of the inning, with Indianola adding insurance in the fifth and held on for the lead.
Jack Strong went 2-3 at the plate with a double, and Ryker Burgin went 1-1. The Indians are now 10-5 on the season, and have a crucial matchup with Dallas Center-Grimes tomorrow evening for a doubleheader.
