The Knoxville Softball Squad fell short in a thrilling game against class 4A #13 Bondurant-Farrar while the baseball Panthers never made it on the field in Gilbert due to rain. It was a pitcher’s duel on Panther Drive for the first four innings as Knoxville and the Blue Jays were trading hit for hit and base runner for base runner in a scoreless tie. But Bondurant-Farrar broke through in the 5th with a run then hit a two run homer to push the advantage to 3-0. But as with Knoxville early this season, the Panthers did not give up and Marlea Cox batted two runs in during the bottom of the 6th to cut the deficit to 3-2, but the Panthers got no closer and went down in order in the bottom of the 7th. Cox went 2/3 at the plate, Ralei Danner also collected two hits. Charlye Willis took the loss going five plus innings striking out four and walking just one batter. Knoxville is now 3-3 on the season and will stay on Panther Drive to host Albia on Wednesday along with the baseball squad, the softball game can be heard live on 95.3 KNIA at 7:30.
