Continuing their first run through Little Hawkeye Conference games, the Pella Christian baseball and softball teams host Newton tonight.

The Eagles baseball squad is hoping to keep their record over .500, after splitting a doubleheader with Oskaloosa Monday night to improve to 8-7 overall. The Cardinals, who enter the game with a 3-7 overall record, are looking to end a five game losing streak. While trying to stay over .500, Pella Christian will also be looking to change their recent history against Newton, as they have lost the season series each of the last two years. In addition to the game tonight, Pella Christian will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the 1994 baseball team that won the State Championship. The recognition for the 1994 State Championship team will be held in between the JV and varsity contests at roughly 7:20 pm.

On the softball diamond, the Eagles and Cardinals are each seeking their first win in conference play this season. Pella Christian is hoping to snap their six game losing skid tonight, while also trying to rebound following a doubleheader sweep at Oskaloosa on Monday. Newton comes into the game off of an 8-4 victory over Sigourney on Saturday, which snapped their four-game losing streak. In last season’s meetings, the Eagles claimed a 5-0 win in their third game against the Cardinals, but Newton won the first two games to take the season series.

First pitch for the Eagles softball game is set for 7:15 pm, while the baseball game is scheduled to start at 7:30. Coverage of the Pella Christian baseball game can be heard live on the KRLS3 stream at KNIAKRLS.com, beginning with pregame coverage at 7 pm.
