For the first time since April 25th, drought conditions in South Central Iowa saw no change locally in the latest weekly update.
According to the U.S. Drought Monitor Report, almost all of Warren and Marion Counties remain without any form of drought. In the latest report released Thursday, just over 15% of the northeastern portion of Marion County still faces abnormally dry conditions, the lowest form of drought on the national scale. In Warren County, abnormally dry conditions are still in place for just over 12% of the population in the northwestern portion of the county. Rainfall that fell in the middle of the week missed the 8 am cutoff on Tuesday morning, and will be factored into the next report.
According to the National Weather Service, slight chances for rainfall are forecast overnight this evening into Saturday afternoon, but widespread heavy rainfall is not expected.
