The Twin Cedars Baseball Squad defeated North Mahaska on Thursday 10-7 while the softball squad defeated Orient-Macksburg 12-3. Baseball jumped on top of the Warhawks with five runs in the 2nd inning when Brandon Puyear singled, scoring a run, Blake Micetich doubled, scoring two runs, Kaden Kloster singled, scoring a run, and Wyatt Patty scored on a sac fly. Twin Cedars added two more runs when Dallas Smith doubled in the 3rd. North Mahaska would draw close, scoring two runs each in the 4th, 5th and 6th innings as the Sabers survived committing seven errors. Kloster got the win going 2 2/3 innings giving up just one hit and striking out three. The softball squad started slow but picked up steam when Jillian French blasted a three run home run in the 5th. She ended the night 2/4 with four RBI and Kenzyn Roberts went 3/4 with three RBI including her first career home run, Jayden Weldon also drove in three runs and Ami Mockenhaupt had three hits. French went the distance in the circle striking out 17. Both Twin Cedars squads will host Seymour on Friday.
