The first-ever Monroe Classic Madness Car Show was held on the Monroe city square on Saturday. Ervan DeVore, who organized the event, said that he was thrilled with the turnout.

“Words don’t describe it. I had a goal of 100 cars and for the last three or four weeks, everybody said I’d be happy if you get 50 or 75, and I said, we’re going to try for that hundred. But we had 113 cars registered today, so we’re more than pleased with the results. ”

All proceeds from the event benefited The Gathering Place in Monroe, and DeVore said that the car show raised around $3,000 for the non-profit organization. In addition to the car show, the event featured a silent auction, a raffle, Patty Richard’s Music Country Show, and food vendors.

The KNIA/KRLS Lil’ Big Red Radio was also in attendance, playing music and making announcements during the event.
