The Knoxville Public Library will be hosting a Lawyers in Libraries program on Thursday, June 27th.

This program will focus on the powers and limitations of a last will and testament, the basics of probate, information on how court costs are calculated and an overview of how trusts work and when it may be helpful to use one. Lawyers in Libraries is a joint effort by The Iowa State Bar Association, the State Library of Iowa, Iowa Legal Aid and the Polk County Bar Association Volunteer Lawyers Project to help provide free legal information to Iowans across the state. Knoxville Public Library Director Roslin Thompson says this is a great opportunity for those in the community who have legal questions.

“It’s to give access to people about legal issues, people who want to know more about legal issues. They have volunteer lawyers who do the program, and the one we are doing is about basic wills and trusts.”

This spring and summer, lawyers are making one-hour presentations followed by question-and-answer sessions at local public libraries throughout the state.
