It was two entirely different outcomes on Panther Drive in Knoxville last night as the Panther Softball squad stayed unbeaten in the South Central Conference with a 5-2 win over Chariton, while the baseball squad was swept by the Chargers in a double header 8-2 and 4-0. In the softball game, Chariton scored first in its half of the 1st inning, but Knoxville got two in its half of the 1st when Charlye Willis tripled and Addi Dunkin singled her in after Willis scored Ralei Danner. Ciara Heffron hit a towering shot to center field to make it 3-1. After Chariton added another run in the 5th, Knoxville got some insurance, scraping out two runs. Danner, Willis, and Addi Dunkin all got two hits, with Willis leading the RBI totals with two. Herffron pitched the distance allowing six hits, two walks and seven strikeouts. Knoxville is now 6-5 and 6-0 in the conference.
Meanwhile, on the other side of Panther Drive, it was two losses for the Knoxville baseball Squad as Chariton won game one 8-2 and also took the nightcap 4-0. Brenden Woolsey took the loss in game one as Kyler Gifford got two hits. Gifford took the loss in game two with Lincoln Norris getting two hits and Brady Roozeboom and Briar Kingery getting one hit each. Baseball drops to 7-9 on the season and 3-5 in the South Central Conference. The Panthers will travel to Newton today.
