A busy week for the summer sports teams on Eagle Lane continues tonight, as the Pella Christian baseball team travels to Grinnell and the softball team heads to Clarke for their second of four games this week.
Competing in non-conference action, the Eagles baseball team will square off with the long-time Little Hawkeye Conference member Tigers in a single game. Pella Christian is trying to get their summer back on track, as they’ve gone 4-10 overall after starting the season 4-1. Across the diamond Grinnell has been strong as of late, going 10-1 in their last 11 games after a 2-6 start to the year. In addition to trying to end a four-game losing streak, the Eagles are looking to end a nine-game skid to the Tigers over the last three seasons.
For the Pella Christian softball team, they’re looking to nab their second win on the season against a struggling Clarke squad. The Eagles meeting with the Indians will be the first time the two schools have met since 2013. In the all-time series between the two teams, Clarke holds the advantage 4-1, including winning the last game 7-3 on June 15th, 2013. Pella Christian’s lone win against the Indians came on June 14th, 2011, when they were victorious 6-5.
First pitch of the Eagles baseball game at Grinnell tonight is set for 7 pm, while the softball game at Clarke is scheduled to start at 7:15 pm.
