The Melcher-Dallas Summer Squads both played varsity double headers against Moravia on Tuesday night. The baseball Saints fell in both contests 15-0 in game one and 16-2 in the night cap. Errors again was the Saints undoing in game one as they committed five and allowed eight runs in the 3rd inning to lose control of the game. Reece Chiabotta led Melcher-Dallas at the plate with two hits. Easton Juline took the loss for the Saints. In the second game, a 13 run outburst by the MoHawks put Melcher-Dallas in a hole it could not dig out of. Juline, Chiabotta ,and Rocky Johnson all had one hit for the Saints. Trevor Hoch took the loss. It was slightly better on the softball diamond as Melcher-Dallas split with Moravia falling in game one 15-8 and winning the nightcap 9-5. Nine Melcher-Dallas errors would lead to the loss. Hayden Branson led at the plate going 4/4 and three runs scored. Lotty Nolte took the look, striking out five. In the second game, Branson’s bat was big again going 2/4. Jenna Mickey and Paetyn Anderson both drove in three runs, each. Nolte got the win in relief going 5 2/3 innings. Both Melcher-Dallas squads are off until Thursday when they host Mormon Trail.
