g28-construction-update-3

The Marion County Road Department has provided updates on the road construction project taking place on County Highway G28 between Highway 14 and the city of Pella.

According to Marion County Engineer Tyler Christian, the surface lift of asphalt wrapped up on Wednesday, and paving of side road approaches and drives from west to east will take place the rest of this week. Christian says that once the paving of the approaches and drives is complete, work will begin on the final phases of the project.

“There’s a number of subcontractor items to complete once that mainline asphalt is done, which would include the granular shoulders, the edge line rumble strips, and then also all centerline and edge line painting. And then also as part of the project, we got a grant for replacement of the guardrail that’s adjacent to the parallel Bike Trail and the north cable guardrail on the Roberts Creek Dam. So, that will take us probably into July with roadwork. The good thing is, the subsequent phases once asphalt is done, all those phases of lane closures move much quicker.”
