The Indianola School Board will have another work session in the future regarding a possible position in the administration to assist for behavior problems in the elementary schools. Superintendent Ted Ihns tells KNIA News there was a lot of healthy discussion in the previous board meeting, and now they want to be able to talk to all of the stakeholders in addition to incoming Superintendent Tara Paul about the process.
“We know we need to do something, but what does that look like? Is it another SRO in our district, is it a combination of a Dean of Students, social worker? So really what the board decided to do was sit down in another work session about it and find out all of the different types of options they have and get input from building administrators, and the teaching staff of the district. To me that makes a pretty valid point to have all the voices at the table so we can make a proper decision on what would be the step to move forward on.”
