The Knoxville School Board approved property casualty, liability, and workers comp insurance renewal for the district Monday night.

The Knoxville Community School District gets their coverage through the Iowa Public Schools Insurance Program. The district agreed to a $600,129.93 deal for the program for the upcoming school year which is a 6.4% increase from last year. District Business Manager Craig Mobley said he was proud to be able to get the rate they did as a lot of other districts are seeing a much higher increase in their rates.

“I’m happy to report that our property casualty, liability, and worker comp insurance is only going up 6.4% for next year at the same time taking on a little bit more self funded risk in that. When the competition in the first dollar market is typically going up 20-40% depending on their claim utilization.”

The district also renewed their cyber liability coverage at Monday’s meeting.
