The Indianola baseball team earned the season sweep over Pella Christian on Friday with a 7-1 victory heard live on 94.3 KNIA.

The Eagles scored first after Brecken Ritzert doubled and Luke Fynaardt singled in the first to lead 1-0, but would not find home plate again for the rest of the contest. The Indians took advantage of three walks in the second inning, and plated three runs on a bases-loaded triple by Andrew DeWall to lead 4-1. The Indians plated another run on an RBI sacrifice fly by Asher Brueck, then added insurance in the sixth scoring on an error and an RBI single by Jack Strong.

Eagles head coach Chris Fynaardt said after the game his team played tough against the talented Indians and hit the ball hard throughout the game to the outfield, but need to find a way to limit the free opportunities that lead to easy runs.

Trevor Veenstra took the loss despite striking out five, and Eliot Menninga went 2-3 with two doubles. The Eagles fall to 9-13 and 1-8 in conference, and will host Dallas Center-Grimes on Monday.

Indians head coach Nathan Carlin said the Indians pitching staff is getting more and more comfortable and the defense has been outstanding over the last week, they just need to continue to adjust at the plate game by game and put pressure on the opposing team on the basepaths.

George Blake took the win on the mound going five innings, while DeWall had three hits and three runs driven in. The Indians improve to 14-7 overall and 8-3 in Little Hawkeye Conference play, and have a crucial doubleheader on the road Monday at Pella.
