A round of storms this evening may produce scattered severe weather. The National Weather Service has issued a slight risk for severe weather largely along and west of Interstate 35 in Iowa, and a marginal risk to the east. Isolated storms may produce large hail and damaging winds later this afternoon and evening.

Following the potential for storms, a three-day heat wave is expected to settle into the region. Daytime highs in the mid-90s are likely starting Sunday and continuing into Tuesday. Heat index values will approach, and maybe top 100 degrees in the afternoon and evening. Those with outdoor plans should be weather aware and take precautions by avoiding prolonged exposure outdoors, especially without hydrating.
