Norwalk returns to the home diamonds tonight for softball and baseball varsity doubleheaders against Newton. First pitch for both twin bills is set for 5:30 p.m.
The Class 4A 2nd-ranked Norwalk softball team enters the week with an 18-2 overall record and is 9-1 in the Little Hawkeye Conference, tied with Dallas Center-Grimes for first place. The Warriors have won six straight games and defeated Newton 13-1 on May 31. The Cardinals are 9-8 overall and 3-7 in the Little Hawkeye. They highlighted last week with a doubleheader split vs. Indianola on Wednesday.
The Warrior baseball team stands 9-11 overall and 6-4 in conference play. They won three out of five games last week, showcasing consistently strong pitching in holding four opponents to two runs or less. Norwalk dominated the first matchup between the teams 10-1, scoring six runs in the first inning and racking up 16 base hits. Newton has lost 11 of 13 and enters the week at 5-13 overall and 1-9 in the LHC.
