It was a rough night for the summer sports teams on Eagle Lane Monday, as the Pella Christian softball team lost to Dallas Center-Grimes 15-0 in three innings and the baseball team was swept in a doubleheader 16-0 in four innings and 15-2 in five innings.

The Eagles softball team played just one game Monday, forfeiting the first game of the doubleheader due to injuries. The Class 4A #6 ranked Mustangs wasted no time jumping in front of Pella Christian, scoring seven runs in the top of the first inning. DCG added another three runs in the second inning, before tacking on five more in the third and holding the Eagles offense at bay to win via the run-rule. Rachel Kacmarynski recorded the lone hit on the night for Pella Christian, reaching on a bunt single in the bottom of the third. Maddy Van Zee suffered the loss in the circle as the Eagles fell to 1-16 overall and 0-11 in the Little Hawkeye Conference.

On the baseball diamond, the Class 4A #3 ranked Mustangs needed just 14 hits to score 16 runs in the doubleheader opener, taking advantage of four walks and four Pella Christian errors to secure the season series. That momentum carried over into the nightcap for DCG, as they recorded 10 hits and seven walks to plate 15 runs and complete the series sweep. Caleb Van Arendonk was the only Eagle to have two hits on the night, recording a single and a double in the second game. Van Arendonk and Grant Kelderman posted the lone RBIs Monday night, with each batting in a run in the nightcap. Conor Van Zee and Brecken Ritzert took the losses on the mound, as Pella Christian dropped to 9-15 overall and 1-10 in conference play.

The Eagles baseball team is back in action tonight, welcoming PCM to Eagle Lane for a 7:30 pm game that can be heard live on 92.1 KRLS. Pella Christian softball has tonight off, before hosting Oskaloosa for a single conference game on Wednesday night.
