It took until Tuesday but the Pella baseball team was able to find the run they needed to complete their first ever conference sweep of Indianola, winning game one 10-9 and earning game two 6-5 in 14 innings, with game two heard live on 92.1 KRLS.

The story of the first contest into the regular seven innings of game two were just two evenly-matched teams trading runs and leads throughout. The Dutch scored their winning runs in the bottom of the 6th of the opener on a bloop single by Landyn Bethards.

It was more of the same in the nightcap as the team mirrored each other through three. Costly fielding choices, compounded by a bases-loaded, no-out scenario in the top of the 7th allowed Indianola to send it into extra innings. Despite multiple opportunities, neither team would score until Lake Cowman drove in Isaiah Kettler in the bottom of the 14th inning.

Luke Rockhold totaled four hits in the doubleheader and Kettler had six; Kaden Ritchie pitched six brilliant innings of relief to push the first game deep toward midnight; Ryan Howard would get the win in four innings of relief for the green and white.

Pella improves to 15-6 overall and 10-3 in conference play and next heads to Winterset tonight; Indianola drops to 14-8 and 8-5 among league foes and remain off until they take on Norwalk Wednesday. That game can be heard on 94.3 KNIA.
