The Knoxville Public Library will hold a cockatoo encounters program today.

This is a free program that is part of the summer reading program festivities but open to anyone to attend. The program will be at 1:00 pm and will give the community a chance to learn about cockatoos. Knoxville Public Library Director Roslin Thompson encourages everyone to come out to see the bird but also learn about pet responsibility.

“I understand that the presenter is someone who has rescued cockatoos because people have given them up for some reason or another. I’m not sure how many he will bring, but he will bring enough and he will talk about pet responsibility, people, pets, and how beautiful they are.”

The Knoxville Public Library is located at 213 E Montgomery St.
