Several local communities have announced their celebrations for Independence Day.

The city of Leighton will hold their celebration on Friday, June 28th from 5-10 pm. Festivities will start with food and games at 5 pm and will be followed by the parade at 7:30. An adult softball game will be held at 8:30, before the event concludes with fireworks at 10. Julie Rooda with the Leighton Independence Day Celebration encourages those attending to plan for limited parking at the event.

“Right when you come into town, there will be people pointing you to different parking lots. We do have parking for handicap as well, so we’ll definitely make it work, but I would say carpooling if possible will make things run a lot smoother, and it’ll make it easier for you to get out of town.”

Pleasantville, Norwalk, and Milo will hold their celebrations on Thursday, July 4th. Pleasantville’s Spectacular Fireworks Display will take place at the Sports Complex from 7-10 pm. Norwalk’s celebration will feature a parade at 10 am and fireworks at dusk. Milo’s event will be held at Milo City Park, with festivities such as an FFA breakfast, parades, live music, fireworks, and more taking place from 7 am to 9:45 pm.
