The Pella City Council will review and consider possible construction bids to upgrade the Tulip Toren later this summer. A public hearing was scheduled at this week’s meeting for August 6th to consider what Tometich Eningeering estimates will be $355,000 in upgrades to the signature feature in Central Park. The project includes repairs to a beam in the basement, removal and replacement of concrete slabs at the base of each tower, removal and replacement of joint sealant, cleaning and sealing each tower, rust removal and painting of the bridge between the towers, removal of plantings around the base of the tower, replacing plantings with concrete to aid in water run off away from the base of the towers, repainting doors, and painting stage surface areas. The goal would be for completion by Thanksgiving.
