Local drought conditions remained unchanged in Marion and Warren Counties in the latest weekly update.
According to the U.S. Drought Monitor Report, all of Warren County remains in normal conditions, while a slight portion of northeast Marion County remains in abnormally dry conditions. Neighboring counties to the south and east saw the return of abnormally dry conditions, as the majority of Lucas, Madison, and Mahaska counties face the lowest rating on the national scale. Rainfall that came through South Central Iowa in the middle of the week missed the 8 am cutoff on Tuesday, and will be included in the next update.
According to the National Weather Service, the next best chance for rain in the forecast is on Saturday, before sunny and hot conditions return on Sunday and Monday.
