The Indianola baseball team used a six-run second inning to secure the season sweep of Norwalk Thursday night in a 7-0 shutout win heard live on 94.3 KNIA.

The Indians scored six runs on six hits to start the scoring in the second inning with Andrew DeWall getting a two-RBI double, Jack Strong driving in a run with a single, and Bo Blake with an RBI groundout along with multiple runs via baserunning.

The Warriors reset after the second inning however, shutting down any Indianola rallies and getting multiple runners in scoring position in the third and sixth innings but were unable to get any runs in. The Indians added insurance in the seventh after a Jack Strong RBI double and scored after a Warriors error.

Indianola head coach Nathan Carlin said after the game the Indians knew they were facing a tough Norwalk pitcher, and took advantage in the big inning by going the other way and hitting timely extra base hits.

Asher Brueck pitched six shutout innings, while Jack Strong went 2-4 with an RBI for the Indians as they improve to 15-9 and 9-5 in conference play. They next play in the Prange Classic Tournament at Saydel today.

The Warriors were led by CJ Davis going 1-3 at the plate, while Caleb Ochenpaugh went 1-2 as the Warriors are now 11-12 and 7-4 and play Dallas Center-Grimes in a doubleheader today.
