The Knoxville Public Library is seeing continued progress with the library park project.

Hooyer Construction is the contractor for the new park on the west side of the library, which will include a garden, sidewalks, trees, greenery, a stage for library programming, picnic tables, and a memorial bench. The stage has been in process of going up this week. The garden at the park will be called “Dixie’s Garden” to honor Knoxville native Dixie Gebhardt, who is well known for designing the Iowa Flag. Knoxville City Manager Heather Ussery hopes this project will be completed in the next few weeks.

“They will be wrapping up in late June/early July. There will be seating. I’m not sure if the library will be able to utilize it for their summer programs this year, but definitely moving forward it will be a great space for them to utilize summer activities.”

Stay tuned to KNIA/KRLS for updates on this project.
