The Class 3A #10 ranked PCM softball team jumped out to an early lead before tacking on some late game insurance to pull away for an 8-2 road victory at Pella Christian Thursday night.

Libby Winters got the scoring started in the top of the first inning for the Mustangs with a two-RBI single to right field, before Hadley Millang added on with a two-RBI double to push PCM in front 4-0. The Mustangs lead grew to 5-0 in the second inning on Addi Steenhoek’s RBI single, and that score held late into the game. The Eagles began to rally in the home half of the sixth, with Addison Bandstra’s two-out, solo homer to left field cutting the deficit to 5-1. Rachel Kacmaynski’s bunt single later in the inning plated Brynn Runner and pulled Pella Christian within three. PCM put the game away in the top of the seventh however, scoring three runs to secure the win.

Four Mustangs recorded multiple hits in the contest, led by Millang’s 2-for-4 performance with three RBIs and a run scored. Camden Webb struck out nine to record the win in the circle, helping push PCM’s record to 17-2 overall. Maddy Van Zee suffered the loss for the Eagles, as they fell to 1-18 overall.

The Mustangs softball team is back in action tonight for a 7:30 pm non-conference game at Class 2A #9 ranked Cardinal.
